Getting started
Register and activate Pro
Create an account, get your free 12-month Pro key and activate it in the app.
Most of MotionQL is free and needs no key at all. A Pro key unlocks the remaining features, and every registered user gets one free for 12 months.

The first time you start MotionQL, a 14-day trial of the Pro features begins automatically. Activate your free key any time before or after it ends.
Get your free Pro key
- Go to motionql.com/register and create an account with your name, email and a password.
- Open the confirmation email and click the link to verify your address.
- Sign in and open your account page. Your Pro license is listed there with its expiry date. Click Copy to copy the key. It is a long string that starts with
MQL1.
No credit card is needed.
Activate the key in MotionQL
- Open MotionQL and go to Settings → License (Mod+, opens Settings; Mod is Cmd on macOS and Ctrl on Windows).
- Paste the key and click Activate.
- The License page now shows Pro, your name, and the expiry date.
Activation happens offline. MotionQL checks the key's digital signature against a public key built into the app; nothing is sent anywhere, so it also works behind firewalls and on air-gapped machines.
Renewing after 12 months
While the free launch offer runs, you can renew for another year with one click on your account page. Renewing issues a new key; paste it into Settings → License the same way.
If a key expires, the Pro features stop but MotionQL keeps working: it opens, connects and shows your data, every free feature still works, and nothing is deleted. You can still view and remove items you made with Pro features, such as saved tasks.
Replacing a lost or leaked key
On your account page, Reissue creates a new key with the same end date and cancels the old one. MotionQL learns about cancelled keys from a signed list it downloads periodically, so a cancelled key stops working on machines that are online.
Troubleshooting activation
